Vitamin D’s Benefits by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

There are four fat soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K. Today, I’m talking about vitamin D.

You can’t have too munch vitamin D! Actually, you can have too much. If you get vitamin D naturally, too much will result in a sunburn. Taking too much vitamin D orally can result in health problems.

However, vitamin D is important to optimize your health. Therefore, I intend to have a discussion on the facts about vitamin D.

What is vitamin D?

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin. What does that mean? Vitamin D is stored in your body’s fat cells. In other words, vitamin D builds up in the body to be used as it’s needed. In addition to this, here is a list of the benefits vitamin D.

  • Cell Health: this includes cells in the breast, colon and prostate were cancers are hindered by vitamin D
  • Bone Health: Vitamin D supports bone health by helping prevent osteoporosis, hip fractures, and osteomalacia
  • Organ Health: helps to regulate high blood pressure, hypertension and heart disease
  • Mental Health: vitamin D is known to help minimize mental health issues such as SAD, PMS, depression and general low mood
  • Auto-immune Diseases: the affects of multiple sclerosis, Type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis can be reduced with vitamin D
  • Skin Disorders: include psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, premature aging, and helping to prevent skin cancer
  • Obesity: vitamin D is effective in weight loss by blocking the formation of new fat cells. It can also suppress the storage of fat in the cells.
  • Sunlight is the most effective way for the body to manufacture Vitamin D.  In some parts of the world where the weather tends to be cloudy such as England and Ireland, our bodies can only manufacture Vitamin D from exposure to the sun during the months of May to October. Those are the only months during the year that the sunlight is most effective.
More facts about vitamin D

  1. We become less able absorb vitamin D through our skin from the sun as we age.
  2. In modern society we tend to stay indoors more. This limits our exposure to sunlight and reduces our intake of vitamin D.
  3. Dark skinned people find it difficult to make vitamin D. Dark skin tends to not absorb the sunlight as easily as lighter skinned people.
  4. Certain cultures require their women to cover themselves entirely in heavy clothing that blocks out the sun.
  5. People who have intestinal diseases cannot efficiently absorb Vitamin D from the diet or supplement.
  6. Using sunscreen blocks the absorption of vitamin D. Limiting sun exposure between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is recommended. Early morning and late evening sun exposure is suggested.

Recommended doses

Most multivitamins only contain 400IU of Vitamin D. Vitamin D experts recommended a daily supplement of 5,000IU per day to obtain and maintain optimum levels. Vitamin D supplements provide the same benefits as sunshine but if taken in too large a dose, can cause Vitamin D toxicity, whereas sun exposure does not.

Side effects of too much vitamin D

Excessive amounts of vitamin D in the body can cause calcium levels in the blood to rise. This can lead too much calcium in your blood otherwise known as hypercalcemia. Symptoms include fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, excessive thirst, excessive urination, and cardiac arrhythmias. High levels of vitamin D can cause chest pain, tightness, hives, difficulty breathing, rash or swelling.

In addition to the information above, remember like the three bears story, look for that sweet spot where it’s ‘just right’.

Therefore, take your vitamin D from the sunlight whenever possible. Then get your vitamin D from food. After that, take a vitamin D supplement for optimal health. Make sure you always research your supplements so you’re getting the highest quality. Plant based supplements without fillers are best.

Similarly, this is your body. It’s the only one you will ever have. Above all, take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Let’s talk about food by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Weight loss is the number one topic in food circles. Actually, it’s the number one topic. Products for weight loss bring in billions of dollars each year. In addition, ads show people who have lost a lot of weight, sometimes over 100 pounds.

I’m curious about these products. Therefore, I read the labels on the bottles. Herbs are combined in various combinations and strengths. However, curiosity has made me test some of these products. A money back guarantee is a safe bet.

Testing

Ok, I admit, I ordered a product or two for testing. Each time I test a product, I get my money back! Really, no kidding. In other words, the product did nothing. The product is expensive, in addition, the ads make you think that you will lose the excessive weight rapidly.

These companies have a good marketing team. Marketing teams know how to put a good spin on a product. Remember, ads do not always tell the truth. They tell you what you want to hear.

Buyer be aware!

Therefore, let’s take a look at some facts.

  • You will lose weight without dieting or exercising. (Do you really believe that?)
  • You don’t have to watch your calorie intake to lose weight. (Yes, you do!)
  • This product guarantees you’ll lose weight permanently. (No one can guarantee that!)
  • To lose weight, all you have to do is follow this diet plan and take this product. (Not true.)
  • This product works for millions of people. (Oh, please! Those people lost weight because they changed their lifestyle, not because of a pill.)

Meanwhile, having said this, know that millions of people are fooled. You’re not the only one. Above all, know that there is no magic formula or pill that melts the weight off. In addition, the manufacturers are not looking out for your health. The ‘bottom line’ is their only interest.

But, on the other hand, weight loss is possible. Having said this, you have to take responsibility for your own health. Like wise, don’t blame someone else for your lack of results.

True facts

All calories are not the same! Sugar is an empty calorie. It has no nutritional value. However, calories from fats are not the same either. There are ‘good’ fats and ‘bad’ fats. Therefore, a protein calorie can increase metabolism, reduce appetite, and improve the function of weight-regulating hormones.

The fewer the calories, the better. No, that’s not true! When too few calories are taken in, the body goes into what is called ‘starvation mode’. In other words, the body thinks it’s starving and will slow metabolism to try to prevent death. Above all, you have to give your body the nutrients it needs to be healthy.

Stop lying to yourself! For instance, you’re not big boned and therefore you weight more. It’s not likely to be a thyroid problem either. Similarly, it’s hereditary doesn’t cut it either. Stop with the excuses! Yes, there are a few people who do have physical, hormonal factors, but not that many.

Bottom line

Going on a ‘diet’ is not going to work. When you say, “I’m going on a diet”, you’re telling yourself at some point you’re coming off the diet. Refer back to my article on hypnosis and weight loss.

Being healthy is not about having a skinny body. Body image is tainted by the media. Do you realize that the paintings and statues of goddesses are of woman with well rounded bodies?

However, eating a well balanced diet is what your body needs. Make friends with yourself. Stop comparing yourself with what the media tells you!

Look back on my previous article on the food pyramid. Make friends with healthy foods. Learn to eat more vegetables.

First of all, don’t get stuck in a routine of eating the same foods. For instance, we get in a rut. Food becomes boring. Be creative in meal preparation. Make meal time an event. Don’t save the good dishes for special occasions, every moment is a grand event.

Second, explore the large variety of vegetables and fruits. In addition to exploring the large choices available to us, be courageous and try something new.

However, remember to relax and enjoy life. Yes, the sugary cookies and pastries are delicious, but they are filled with empty calories. Sugar feeds cancer, not your body!

Therefore, as you change your diet, your taste buds will change. You notice that you feel better overall. After that, you will notice that your outlook on life is improved.

One feels good to be in control of their own health. Once you stop eating the foods filled with sugar, you notice that if you do eat some sugar, it makes you feel bad.

In conclusion

Healthy eating is a lifestyle choice. Similarly, as one takes control of their food choices, our confidence grows. Don’t be fooled by the ads. Turn off the TV. Go outside and connect with nature. Walk, ride a bicycle, hike, in other words, just move the body. It will thank you.

Indeed, it is your life. What kind of life do you have? What do you intend to do with you life? Get up off the couch! Turn off the computer! Stop looking at Twitter! Other people’s lives are just that. Their lives. Believe me, their life isn’t what it appears to be. Live your life to the fullest! Go cook yourself a wonderful meal. Light the candles, turn on some music and enjoy the art of creating a great meal and a great moment in time.

Who is that masked person? by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

I was in the grocery store a couple of weeks ago. I see a man who looks like my brother-in-law. But, I know this man is not my brother-in-law, even though he looks like him. The mask he is wearing makes it hard to know one way or the other if it truly is him. After that, I decide it’s not my brother-in-law because he is heavier. However, it has been a while since I have seen him.  We did just have the holidays. In addition, my brother-in-law lives on the other side of town. Above all, he would not have been grocery shopping in that particular store. Confusing isn’t it?

This incident makes me think about mask wearing. Therefore, I begin to think about the affects of wearing a mask.

Who is that masked man?

I’ve not said much about wearing mask. But, I guess it’s time I step out on a limb and say what I think. Keep in mind, I’m not going to get into a heated discussion with my readers.

I was an Infection Prevention Nurse with the Veteran’s Administration at one point in my medical career. So, I have a different perspective. Having said this, I will begin.

I held the position as chairperson for the Evidence Based Practice (EBP) committee for three years. The motto for an EBP nurse is show me the facts. Who’s behind the research being presented. It can’t be the same group who wants to make a point on a topic. It has to be an independent source verifying the facts.

I’m interested in words and how they’re used. For instance, I’m a curious woman. How you perceive that statement determines what you think. That statement from my viewpoint is that I’m curious about life and all things. Someone else may read that statement as me being curious or odd. Therefore, either statement can be true. I do have a sense of humor.

Do you know the origin of the word person? It is Latin in origin and means:

“a mask, a false face,” such as those of wood or clay, covering the whole head, worn by the actors in later Roman theater. Similarly, a person is masked.

I find that very interesting. Have you noticed that you’re not as trusting of people since you can’t see their face clearly?

Think about…

Because of my EBP background, I don’t necessarily trust what I hear.  And, because my mother used to tell me, “God gave you a brain, use it!”

I want you to think about this:

If we’re wearing mask, social distancing and being quarantined, why is the news media making it sound like people are dying off like flies from Covid-19?

If you really want to know what the death rate is, look at your country’s Funeral Home site statics. Here in American, it shows that the death rate is decreased 7.1% between 2015 to 20202. They expect an increase in the next few years because of the population of the very old (80 years and up) will be dying of natural causes. The funeral home page also didn’t support the information that Covid-19 was the leading cause of death. This site stated that the information being presented to the public by the news media is in question on the cause of death being Covid-19.

Now to the facts about wearing mask

  1. Wearing a mask decreases your intake of oxygen. Our lungs are designed to take in fresh oxygen and to exhale body waste such as carbon dioxide. Wearing a mask causes one to breath in the waste the body is trying to rid itself of. People who have breathing problems are at risk of having exacerbation of lung problems. If one is infected with any respiratory virus, you’re rebreathing the virus back into your lungs. Inhaling carbon dioxide causes rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, clumsiness, emotional upsets and fatigue.
  2. Mask pose a safety hazard. If you wear eyeglasses, they become fogged making it hard to see where you’re going. The waste expelled from the lungs is going into the eyes as well. Mask don’t always stay in place and can restrict your line of vision. Tripping over objects that are hidden from the line of vision is not unusual.
  3. The immune system is hampered. Low oxygen levels in the tissues (hypoxia) can suppress some aspects of the immune system. Older and younger people wearing a mask are said to be more vulnerable. Science has proven that lowered oxygen intake prevents the body in fighting infection.
  4. Mask can cause rashes, skin irritation, and allergies depending on the material the mask is made from. Remember, you’re breathing in the chemicals that are in the mask at the time of production. It doesn’t matter if it’s a disposal mask or cloth.
  5. Mask cause a financial burden on people as well. They are expensive. They get lost or damaged and have to be replaced.
Psychological affects of wearing a mask

Our brain is hard wired to look at people’s faces. Therefore, much information is gathered by looking at the face of a man or woman. Instead, one is not able to make a determination about a person who’s wearing a mask.

I develop trust as I look into the face of a person. I have to see the whole face, not just the eyes. For instance, to read an individual’s body language, we have to see the face in full. In addition, I find that I don’t trust someone when I can’t see their whole face.

You read another person by looking into the eyes and by watching the expression on the face. Child care workers tell me babies do not interact as much as they did because the face is covered. It’s going to be interesting to learn what the long term affects will be on these children. I predict that these babies will have a harder time learning to trust their instincts when it comes to dealing with people. For instance, this generation will have difficulty in social interaction.

Above all, men and women with claustrophobia are isolated. They are not able to deal with wearing a mask. More people are claustrophobic than you realize.

In closing

Tell me, has there ever been another time in history where you wear a mask into a bank and it’s ok?

Also, why is the parent wearing a mask in public, yet the children are mask free? If the threat of infection is so high, why would a parent not protect their child? Doesn’t make sense does it?

The best way to prevent the spread of germs is to wash your hands! I ask you, how long will you tolerate being manipulated with false information. Research the facts! Therefore, don’t take the word of the mainstream news media. Find the evidence! Trust yourself! Look for the evidence!

In conclusion: As mom said, “God gave you a brain, use it!”

Quantum Biofeedback by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Since the last article I wrote on quantum frequencies, I earned certification in Quantum Biofeedback. Exciting, I know! At least, for me it is. And for my volunteers who graciously participate as I learn the technology. However, having said this, I am continually amazed by the readings I get during each session.

You can lie to yourself, but not to your aura!

We all lie to ourselves. No one likes to admit their own weakness. Therefore, each of us paint a picture of who we want to see ourselves as. So, I run a session on myself and, there it is, the emotional baggage staring back at me. I’m amazed at the information showing up in my energetic field. I don’t like to admit at times I worry.  Yes, I know! I’m consider the modern day version of Scarlett O’Hara in the sense that I don’t worry about things I can’t change. In other words, “Who me worry?”

In Quantum Biofeedback, I record a sample of my client’s voice. Next, I take a photo of the individual. Both the voice and photo are converted into a frequency range. Then, I process both frequencies and analyze the aura. I talked about auras in past articles, you may want to read it. With the first aura reading, I can see the colors associated with the clients energy being emitted at that point.

I see what’s going on with each client at that moment in the aura field. If the colors are murky, it shows stagnation in that area of the body. More often than not, this stagnation is chronic. It’s important to get the energy flowing freely. Having said this, getting the stagnation to move may require digging deeper into the emotional field. If energy stays stagnated, illness can show up in the body at some point in time. The aura should look bright in color when the qi is flowing.

Peeling the onion

I look at each layer of one’s energy field. There’s the body, the emotional and biofield. Under each of these categories are several areas to look at. In my practice, I observe the whole person. One size does not fit all. In other words, two people may come to me with the same issue. In allopathy medicine, western medicine, the doctor will basically prescribe the same medications for each patient who comes into the office with the same problem.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine explores the whole man or woman. Using the Quantum Biofeedback technology, I find my job is made easier. In each energy field of my client, I see what is currently going on. Therefore, I can see that the emotions being felt at the time are affecting the digestion. The digestion is also affected by the food eaten. And on it goes. With Quantum Biofeedback, it’s easier to look at the layers under a microscope so to speak.

Looking at each layer of the aura gives me better insight into what my client is dealing with. Looking at each aspect of the energy field gives me the understanding in what’s going on with that individual’s body. With Quantum Biofeedback I work on one energy layer and then I move on to the next layer. Always digging deeper is important.

Looking back helps resolve issues in the present!

Ok, now what I have to say will seem “woo, woo” to western populations. When I do hypnosis on clients, I regress the client back to the time when their issue began. Some of my clients regress back to a past life. Yes, it happens. No, I’m not debating on whether past life is real or not.

However, using Quantum Biofeedback, I look at the Past Life energy field. I know in my case, I was stunned at what I saw in my aura. I’m certified in Past Life Regression. The classes for this certification were 12 hours a day for a week. Yes, I know some of my past lives. Interestingly, these past lives showed up in my biofeedback session. The past imprints on the cells of our body and affects what is happening in our life today. Clear this trauma from the aura and you’re free to move on from those issues.

Quantum Biofeedback and health care

Quantum biofeedback is a good tool that is used in helping one reach a higher level of health. When we have better insight into what’s going on within our body, we’re better able to support our health. To be healthy physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually is after all the goal.

Quantum Biofeedback can be done remotely as well. I find this piece of information fascinating!

Here’s to better health and new tools to help you in 2021! Better health equals a better life!
