The Future in Medical Advancements in the Next Decade by Janet Lynas, Ph.D, N.H.D.

The next decade in medical advancements will be exciting as we see progress in robotic surgeries. Expansions in new procedures and genetic testing for medications to identify which drugs are more effective in the treatment of individual illnesses.

Medical Advances to Watch in the next Decade
  1. Robotic procedures will make scares a thing of the past.  Keep your eyes open for the “snakelike robots” that will punch through the skin and advance into the body to preform surgical task.  These “snakelike robots” will be controlled by a computer and a joystick.  Surgery will be less invasive and recovery time will be faster and easier.
  2. Medications specific for individual genome is already here. The scope in drugs tested will continue to grow.  Currently a provider swabs the inside of the patient’s mouth on the cheek.  The DNA sample is sent to a lab for testing to see which medications are more effective in the management in patient care.  This technology is helpful in the mental health arena in managing psychiatric illness such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.  The drug is tested on the individual’s DNA sample.  The testing shows which drugs are more effective for that person and which drugs should never be used on that patient.  Testing in this way will eliminate the guesswork that providers use in medical treatment.  The patient is given the drug most effective and safe for them. This eliminates harmful side effects and possible life-threatening drug reactions.  Imagine the time and money saved on getting the patient started on the right treatment for them from the start.
  3. Destroying cancer cells with particle light accelerator and frequency waves.  Frequency waves were proven effective on cancer cells in 1973 using 434 MHz.  The cancer cells were destroyed leaving healthy cells unharmed. Physicist Robert Wilson, the founding director of Fermilab, proposed a different cancer treatment method when he published the article “Radiological Use of Fast Protons” in 1946. In the 1990s, Fermilab built the first proton accelerator dedicated to cancer treatment at a medical center. The physical properties of high-energy protons allow for a more targeted deposition of radiation than with x-rays.
  4. Smaller diagnostic tools for practitioners to use in the doctor’s office.  Development of hand held scanners will be part of the health care providers tools used in diagnosing patient illnesses.  These hand held scanners are in the developmental stage now.  StarTrek diagnostic tools are no longer fiction.
  5. Growing organs in the lab is not fiction.  Science has been growing ears on the backs of mice for years.  Using human genes to grow organs is being advanced in laboratories around the world.  The hope is that in the near future a human heart can be grown from the individuals genes.
  6. Stem cell technology will be used more in repairing the heart after a heart attack.  It will become more of a common treatment than one to be used in the future.  Stem cell treatment is now being used in the repair of the human heart after a heart attack, but it’s most effective in patients who have had heart damage in less than two years.
  7. Overall stem cell therapy will advance rapidly in the near future.  It’s being used in cancer treatment as well as regeneration of human tissue.  Stem cell therapy will be common treatment in anti-aging modalities. Given their unique regenerative abilities, stem cells offer new potential for treating diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
  8. Nutritional advances will take center stage as science is able to see in real time how certain foods affect an individual’s body.  Food metabolism is not the same for every person.  Each person’s metabolism is unique to that individual and by being able to monitor how foods are metabolized, we will be able to tailor our diets for optimal health.
  9. Cures for neurological diseases are on the horizon.  Stem cells offer the hope that they can be used to treat neurological conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Stem cells can be designed to repair and regrow the damaged neurons in an individual’s brain.
  10. Nanotechnology is being perfected rapidly. Nanotechnology is being used for a variety age-reversing applications that could be literally a “new lease on life”.  Because the rate of cellular reconstruction slows down and the body isn’t able to keep up the maintenance, we age. “Subatomic robots” will go into our bloodstream and repair cellular damage. Nanotechnology treatments for other age-related disorders, such as macular degeneration, osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis, and cirrhosis are closer to being current treatment than we think.

The next decade in medical advancements indeed will be exciting to watch as it unfolds. In many cases, the future is here now. How we chose to maintain our health, will in effect determine the quality of life we will have.

Looking Back A Decade by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

As 2019 comes to an end, I begin to think back not only over the last year, but the last decade.  Let’s take a look at some of the medical advances over the last ten years.

10 Medical Breakthroughs in the last decade
  1. Human Genome Discoveries – Starting in 2000 a rough draft of the human genes was released. By 2003 the final draft was published.  The hope of this project is in preventive medicine.  The information gathered from this project will help practitioners focus on preventive medicine.  As scientists understand the human genes better they will be able to predict possibilities on what direction to take to maintain health for their patients.
  2. Information Technology – Since changing patient charts over from pen and paper to computers, consistency in patient care is now available.  Each care provider is able to access all of the patient’s chart and is able to see what each health care provider has contributed to the care of that individual.  Patients have access to doctors through “telemedicine”.  Telemedicine allows patients to interact with physicians who are many miles away.  Physicians who specialize in specific areas of medicine are able to provide patient care via Skype on the computer screen.  Patients are now able to receive care with specialist that would otherwise not be available.
  3. Anti-Smoking laws and Campaigns Restrict Public Smoking – While this may seem on the surface, an invasion of individual freedoms, it however is indeed a big step forward in the protection of non-smokers.  Smokers are not the only ones who get lung cancer from smoking.  Second hand smoke causes lung cancer in non-smokes as well.  People who worked in bars and restaurants where smoking was allowed were subjected to second hand smoke.  As a result, these people had a higher incidence of lung cancer than non-smokers who were not exposed to tobacco smoke.  These laws have encouraged smokers to stop.
  4. Heart Disease Deaths Drop by 40 Percent – Advances in recognition of the symptoms of heart attack and having quick responses have made a major advancement in survival rates.  New treatments in heart disease have made a large turn around in prevention of heart disease.  Advanced surgical techniques have proved to make recovery faster and heart surgery safer.  Preventive care in heart disease has contributed to the drop in patient deaths from heart disease.
  5. Stem Cell Research: Laboratory Breakthroughs and Some Clinical Advances – Stem cell research has been used in many areas of patient care including to regrowth of heart tissue, cancer research and patient survival and in regenerative medicine.  The future in stem cell research is exciting.
  6. Targeted Therapies for Cancer Expand With New Drugs – Cancer treatment is now able to target cancer cells without affecting healthy cells.  DNA medications have helped to increase survival rates without the devastating side effects of cancer fighting drugs in past years.
  7. Combination Drug Therapy Extends HIV Survival – We don’t hear as much about HIV as we did in past years.  The combination of drugs has increased the life expectancy from 3 to 5 years after diagnosis to a patient diagnosed in their 20s living to the age of 69.
  8. Minimally Invasive and Robotic Techniques Revolutionize Surgery – The normal surgical scar was long and took weeks to heal.  Today surgical scars are just a few inches because of robotic surgery.  Recovery time is short compared to ten years ago.  With less invasive surgical techniques the patient experiences less pain and shorter recovery time.
  9. Study Finds Heart, Cancer Risk with Hormone Replacement Therapy – Forty-seven years ago, I learned in pharmacology class that a woman should never take hormone replacement therapy after the age of thirty-five.  The risk for heart attack and stroke was increased with HRT.  This fact has now been supported by research.  This information includes men taking HRT as well as women.  Studies show that the increase in cancer is higher when an individual is taking HRT.
  10. Advances in MRI Technology – New advances in MRI imagining gives health care providers a look into the working of the human brain.  Known as functional MRI or fMRI, science can now trace the changes in oxygen flow in the brain.  How does tracing the oxygen flow in the brain help scientists understand the brain better? By tracking changes in the oxygen levels and blood flow in the brain, science is able to track the neurons in the brain.  As the brain activity is being observed while the patient is answering questions, researchers are able to have an insight into the working brain.  These observations are helping scientists understand brain cancer, autism, dementia, and autoimmune diseases.

I Have Cancer, Will Hypnosis Help? by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

I have cancer. Those are scary words to utter. Time stands still when a diagnosis of cancer is given to an individual. Once the shock, begins to subside, panic sets in. There are so many questions and then there is the anxiety, fear and anger that sets in.

When one utters those words “I have” and understand the range of emotions that sweep through you when you first receive the diagnosis of cancer.survivor says, “I know how you feel”, you want to yell at them, “No you don’t!” Just because a person has had cancer, they do not know how you feel. Your feelings are just that, your feelings. No-one knows what or how you feel.

I have utter those words and understand the range of emotions that sweep through you when you first receive the diagnosis of cancer. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with melanoma on my left lower leg. Melanoma is not a nice cancer as far as cancer goes.

I had two surgeries on my leg and I was not allowed out of bed for a week. My leg was immobilized because the skin graft was very fragile. I used self hypnosis for pain management before and post surgery. I did on one occasion take a mild analgesic for discomfort in my back because I was not allowed to change my position very much. The day I was cautiously allowed out of bed to sit in a chair was indeed a joyful day. I did not have pain in my leg, not one time. Self hypnosis was used as a preventive measure for pain management.

When I met with my oncologist to learn my prognosis and to discuss treatment, I told him that I have a Ph.D. in Natural Health and he would have to work with me or I would need to find another doctor.  He said that he had no problem working with me. As we discussed my treatment, he started to tell me the side effects of the Interferon. I held up my hand to stop him. “I know the side effects and I will not have any of them,” I told him. He tried to hide the eye roll, you know the one, the one your kids give you, but I saw it. I just grinned, knowing he was about to be very surprised.

Before and during each treatment , I used self hypnosis. Not one time did I have the side effects of the medication. I had 21 IV treatments total. The staff were amazed and couldn’t understand what was going on.

One would think that the doctor and the staff would want to learn more about what I was doing since I was having such remarkable outcomes. You would also think that the doctor and the staff would want to extend this form of support to their other patients. But, sadly, they did not.

Some of the benefits of hypnosis for cancer treatment are:

  • Hypnosis can improve your mental and emotional outlook
  • Hypnosis can help reduce the side effects of cancer treatment
  • Hypnosis can help reduce or in some cases eliminate the pain associated with some cancers

I’m speaking to you from experience, hypnosis can and in my case did eliminate the side effects of my treatment. As a result, my outcome was better than the individuals who are not using hypnosis as a tool to help manage the side effects of cancer treatment.

I encourage anyone who is undergoing treatment for cancer to investigate the use of hypnosis to add to your tool box for support of treatment.

The China Study by Janet Lynas Ph.D., N.H.D.

T. Colin Campbell Ph.D. is a name I want you to remember.  Dr. Campbell is the author of The China Study, a book that I recommend you read.  This book is not an easy read, but worth your time, if, you are serious about your health.  I have recommended this book through the years to my clients.  Dr. Campbell is one of the most important researchers our country has had in the area of health and nutrition.

Dean Ornish M.D. states, ” Everyone in the field of nutrition science stands on the shoulders of Dr. Campbell, who is one of the giants in the field.  This is one of the most important books about nutrition ever written – reading it may save your life.”

For 27 years, Dr. Campbell’s research was funded by the National Health Institute  for Cancer Research (NIH), the American Cancer Society and The American Institute for Cancer Research.  His team’s research was then reviewed for a second time for publication in many of the best scientific journals.

Dr. Campbell was instrumental in the discovery of dioxin and aflatoxin. Does dioxin ring a bell for you?  It is arguably the most toxic chemical ever found.  Remember the Vietnam War and Agent Orange?   Aflatoxin is a mold found in peanuts and corn.  Aflatoxin has been called one of the most potent carcinogens ever discovered.

For ten years Dr. Campbell worked on a project with Filipino children investigating the unusually high prevalence of liver cancer, a disease usually found in adults.  It was thought that the high consumption of aflatoxin was the cause.  In this project, he discovered the dark secret that: Children who ate the highest-protein diets were the ones most likely to get liver cancer!

Dr. Campbell grew up on a dairy farm believing that the dietary recommendations of a high protein diet was correct and that Americans had the best diet.  Dr. Campbell started his career in veterinary school and then moved into a position of research in animal nutrition.  (If you want to know what is in the future for human medicine, research animal medicine.)

Dr. Campbell was on the road to promote better health by advocating the belief that the intake of more meat, milk and eggs was the best course of action.

So, what happened in Dr. Campbell’s research that would cause medical institutions and government agencies to go out of their way to discredit him?

The defining moment for Dr. Campbell was when he was studying a research project in India that had some very provoking findings.  India researchers had studied two groups of rats.  One group was feed the cancer-causing aflatoxin with a diet composed of 20% protein, a level near American consumption of protein and the second group of rats fed the aflatoxin, but only 5% protein in the diet.  Incredibly, every animal in the 20% protein group, developed liver cancer.  The animals in the 5% protein group did not develop liver cancer.  It was a 100 to 0 score, leaving no doubt that nutrition won out over chemical carcinogens.  This was a very potent discovery.

Dr. Campbell researched the different proteins and the effect they have on the human body and discovered that the protein casein, which makes up 87% of cow’s milk protein promoted all stages of cancer.  Dr. Campbell discovered that proteins from plants made up the safest forms of protein.  Remember, Dr. Campbell grew up on a dairy farm.

This series of articles on diet and cancer will examine the popular beliefs and propaganda that we Americans have been spoon-fed through the decades.  You will be given information and the tools to make up your own minds.

Dr. Joseph Rosenzweig, a pediatrician I worked with when I started my nursing career, said, “Cows milk is for cows.  Man is the only mammal who drinks milk past infancy.  This is why humans have many of the health problems they have.”

So, does milk do a body good?  Are our medical institutions protecting the American public?  And the most important question: What are you going to do with the information once you learn the truth?

Cancer by Janet Lynas Ph.D., N.H.D.

I’m taking a brief detour from the Successful Aging series.  I will return to it for completion, but I will present a second topic at the same time.  This topic is one that hits home to most families and is controversial because it is a multibillion dollar industry.  There have been several well known Natural Health doctors who have died under mysterious circumstances in recent years, so some of us have been flying under the radar.  I by no means place my skills at the level of these doctors who have been in the front lines.  And I have to state my disclaimer at this time.

The information I am presenting is informational only.  As, always, talk with your doctor before making any decision in your health care treatment or before changing your medication protocol.

Five and a half years I ago I was diagnosed with Melanoma, a hideous and aggressive cancer.  I talked with my oncologist from the first day telling him I have a Ph.D. in Natural Health and that he would have to work with me or I would need to find another doctor.  Fortunately, he was in agreement with working with me, confiding in me that he did not agree with the total protocol for melanoma at that time.  There are new treatments for melanoma that were not available fives years ago.  I want to present information to my readers on treatments that have been proven by scientific research to be effective for cancer, but are not available to the general population.

This is one photo of a cancer cell.  It’s quite lovely to look at, but it’s effect on the body is just the opposite.  I have been in the medical field for 46 years and have seen many advancements, but I have seen many scientists discredited through the years for their discoveries of cancer treatments that have cured patients who were considered to be beyond help.  Sad, isn’t it, that money is the main driving force of the medical industry.  This statement is not a reflection on the men and women who are dedicated to helping their patients, but on a system that is not.

In the 1920s, a man by the name of Royal Rife, began to research the cause of cancer.  In 1931, he  and Dr. Arthur Kendall discovered that if certain frequency vibrations were sent into the  body, these vibrational frequencies would destroy microorganisms found to be associated with cancer.  This discovery has been  supported by repeated research of numerous highly respected scientists.  Mr. Rife believed that cancer was a kind of virus, and in order to pursue his theory, he and Dr. Kendall invented a microscope that was 8 times more powerful than those used by his contemporaries at that time.   Mr. Rife was among some of the leading edge researchers who had found a cure for cancer.  He was discredited because his discovery did “cure” cancer without side effects, without toxic drugs, without radiation, safely and instantly.  Interestingly, his treatment was approved to be used anywhere on the body and with no toxic side effects and no damage to healthy cells.

‘If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.’  ~ Nicola Tesla

Remember Tesla’s statement, it will be used along with statements from Einstein and other scientists in future postings and in some of the books I am currently working on for publication.

Anthony Holland who is an Associate Professor, Director of Music Technology at Skidmore College has recruited some very talented scientists to work with him on cancer and frequency treatment in cancer.   I encourage you to read Christopher Fontenot’s article and listen to Dr. Rife and Mr. Holland talk about their research.

There are other implications for the use of vibrational frequency treatment as well.  This treatment can cure “Super Bugs” as well.  As a former, Infection Prevention nurse, I know that these bacteria and viruses are just as deadly as cancer.

Resonant Frequencies and the Cure for Cancer

So, what was the outcome with my cancer treatment? I knew about Mr. Rife in the 1980s when I was doing research on cancer.  But, when I was diagnosed with melanoma five years ago,  I could not find current day practitioners who had access to this and other treatments I had studied through the years.  I am cancer free and I did not have the standard treatment for melanoma.  I have doctor’s look at my lab work, shake their heads and say, “I don’t know what you are doing, but keep doing it.”  I was released early from six month follow ups post cancer treatment.  I see an oncologist once a year now.  I had a follow up PET scan at the first of the year and it was clear of any cancer cells.

The sad thing is, not one doctor has asked me, “What did you do to treat your cancer?  What did you use along with the conventional treatment that you did agree to?  You didn’t use the conventional treatment, so how is it that your results are so good?”

I will be presenting other research and treatments in Natural Health that are effective in future postings.  In the meantime, I encourage you to take an active part in your health care.
