How Are You Doing? by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

We are living in uncertain times. The unknown can play havoc on us emotionally. So, how are you doing mentally and emotionally during this world crisis? I’m not going to talk about the Coronavirus that is affecting the world. What I am going to talk about is the mental health of the world.

Global Reset

Basically, we’re experiencing a global reset. Life will never be the same. That can be exciting or it can be frightening. For me, it’s exciting!  If you have been following my blog, you know that I am an optimistic person.  My cup is full and overflowing!

It’s from this perspective that I want to talk with you.  Being in quarantine for whole countries is not a new event. The last national quarantine for the U.S. was in 1918, to curtail the Spanish Flu. However, this event is worldwide.  Let’s look at the implications on this world event.

Quarantine, a Time for Self Care

We have the power to chose and the power to decide where we are going to place our focus. One has to feel in control of their life. What outlet are you using to help you care for your mind, your mental health?  Your are in control of your thoughts. Use this time to learn about yourself!  Be an active participant in your own life!  Where does your pleasure come from? This is a good time to learn something new.  A time to get to know where your interest lie. Once we feel mentally strong, we feel empowered.

A few years back, there was a term “cocooning”. The goal was to be able to work from home. People were tired of the “rat race”! Many people were able to get their bosses on board with working from home. Productivity actually improved as individuals were allow to work from home. Stress was reduced on people since they didn’t have to fight the traffic to get to work. Companies learned that with happier employees, productivity increased.

Now is a good time for self care.  Get the extra rest you need!  Read that book you’ve been wanting to read. Clean your house or apartment. Get outside on nice days and feel the sunshine! The fresh air will help you.

We’re All in This Together!

The entire world is in the same boat. We are having deep changes throughout the world. Countries are already bankrupt and have been for a while. There are enough resources, we have to realize that now is the time to come together!

Now is the time for all countries to come together and to work together!  Maybe, we should be looking at a Year of Jubilee. The Jewish community had this reset built into their history, into their way of life.  Every aspect of every country’s core has been a mess. This chaos and uncertainty is a wake up call!

The peoples of the world need to step up and do some housecleaning in our governments. We want better cooperation between the different governments. It’s  time especially in the U.S., to clean house in our government. There needs to be cooperation in our government. There has been no cooperation for decades! The time is now for a new way of doing things.  These are the things we are able to change.  We are empowered to make the changes for the better.

Once government leaders throughout the world realize that working together is preferred over greed and power, life will move ahead in a better direction.

The slate is clean. Fill the seats with cooperation and mutual respect for each other!

What is Your Self-Talk?

You are not the only one who is having to deal with interrupts in income.  All of your neighbors are in the same situation. Now is the time to realize that the fear is an illusion in the sense of survival.  Are you telling yourself you’re going to be out on the street and homeless soon?  Why?  What good will it do for landlords to evict people from their homes?  For banks to foreclose on houses?  These buildings will set empty because everyone else is facing the same challenge with the disruption of income, so why would a landlord or mortgage company evict you?

Step out of the fear of the unknown and deal with what is.  Take steps to help yourself and your family by doing the chores that need to be done.  Stay active in doing what you do have control over.  You have control over your emotions.  One can control how they act in a situation.  What you don’t want to do is react to a situation.  When you react, you are ‘shooting for the hip’ so to speak.

Neighbors helping neighbors is the foundation our country was built on.  It’s a strong foundation.  But, somewhere along the way, it became every man for himself.

Remember the saying, “Divided we stand, divided we fall”.  The choice is ours. Are we going to stand?  Or are we going to fall?  Chose wisely.

The Mind is a Powerful Thing! by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Henry knew from an early age that he would die at the age of 50. However, there were no indications that Henry would die at an early age. Henry has perfect health from birth never being sick a day in his life. He was physically strong and looked like a weight builder. Henry is blessed with intelligence and has a prestigious job. Henry’s doctor could not convince him that there is a reason to believe he would die young.

Knowing he would die at the age of 50, restricted Henry in living a full life. Yes, he has an abundance of friends, but Henry never married. He opted out of living life to the fullest because of his belief in his life expectancy. Because of this, Henry was a lonely man. He longed for a wife and children, but he didn’t want to put a family through the grief of loosing a husband and father.

When Henry turned 49 years old, his attention turned to what he wanted to experience the last year of his life. Despite his doctor’s efforts in trying to convince him of his excellent, Henry began to plan for his funeral.

Henry turned 50.

Ending #1

The night before Henry’s 50th birthday, he wrote out his instructions on how he wanted his funeral to be conducted. Henry then joined his friends for a big celebration. Everyone enjoyed the evening. Laughter, good food, friends singing… the evening is the best evening Henry has ever had.

The next morning Henry is found dead. It’s his 50th birthday.

The thoughts you dwell on are your reality. Henry willed himself to death with his belief that he would die at 50.

Ending #2

The night before Henry’s 50th birthday, he wrote out his instructions on how he wanted his funeral to be conducted. Henry then joined his friends for a big celebration. Everyone enjoyed the evening. Laughter, good food, friends singing… the evening is the best evening Henry has ever had.

The sun rose the next morning and to Henry’s surprise, he woke up on his 50th birthday! Henry live for another six months before he died.

Beware of what you think!

In my hypnosis practice, I see clients whose thoughts have manifested in their lives. The thoughts you dwell on are the ones you see directing the outcomes in your existence. Many of my clients have set themselves up for failure by the beliefs they hold on to. These ideas are not based on facts, but on internal perceptions that have no foundation.

Beware of what you wish for is a warning for us to pay attention to what we contemplate. What are your thoughts focused on? Do you realized how powerful your mind is?

Change your thoughts, change your life!

Now Is The Time To Heal! by Janet Westley, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a theme I’m seeing a lot in my hypnosis practice. PTSD is not just seen with our military, police officers, or first responders and medical staff. Trauma is seen throughout society.

PTSD in Society

Children suffer from PTSD brought on by circumstances in the family, bullying by peers, fear brought on by feelings of lack of support and low self-esteem.  It’s heart breaking to see these little ones dealing with such a heavy burden.

Women suffer from PTSD more often than is realized. Even with all the advances women have made in gaining rights and being recognized, there’s still room for improvement. I have clients I’m seeing for abduction and being held hostage and raped to one woman discovering she is being poisoned by her husband.

In reality, traumatic events are seen in every aspect of society.

Hypnosis as a tool for recovery

As I said earlier, I’m seeing more women coming to my hypnosis practice with PTSD. Often times, it’s disguised as depression or low self-esteem. Once my client is in a relaxed state of focused attention, they are able to get in touch with the root cause of their depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and insomnia.

I had a woman who had been in treatment for depression for over 20 years book an appointment with me for hypnosis in hopes of getting relief. She has been suicidal at times throughout her life and had even attempted suicide once in her twenties. On my insistence, the mental health care provider was aware of her hypnosis session with me.

(Note, I don’t routinely conduct a hypnosis session on an individual who is suicidal. Their health care provider must be aware of this session. Hypnosis does help with suicidal thoughts and is safe. However, I insist that the health care provider be aware of what’s going on. I also insist that the client stay on their current medications and keep their scheduled appointments with their mental health provider. The mental health provider is the one who will make any adjustments in the medication protocol.)

I regressed this lovely woman back to the time when her depression started. She regressed back to a time in her life when a thoughtless statement was made by her father. He told her that she just needed to make sure she wore a tight sweater to get ahead in life.

This revelation, is the release she needed to move forward in life. Now that the  root cause is determined, she has made progress with her psychiatrist.

Current Client Needs

Currently, I am seeing negative “self-talk” as being a contributor to people not being able to move froward. Through hypnosis, I address the negative self-talk. Post hypnosis, we talk about the negative self-talk and showing compassion to one’s self.

I am blessed to literally see a difference in my clients as they leave my office. Hypnosis is a viable tool to help people identify the blocks in their lives. Hypnotic therapy is a major tool to be used in mental and emotional health. While hypnosis is an important tool in helping people over come addictions such as smoking and drug abuse, it’s vital for mental health as well.

Summary

Hypnosis is a powerful tool! Through hypnosis, you are able to break free of the bondage that is holding you back.

Things to Note

Look for a hypnotist who is certified in hypnosis. Learning hypnosis is not a two hour workshop. To be certified in hypnosis, one has to have 100 hours training under a certified instructor in hypnotic techniques. Then, you have to pass a written exam as well as demonstrate your skills before certification is grated. I received my certificate through an instructor certified by the National Guild of Hypnotist. I have been doing hypnosis since 2006.

Next, if someone tells you they can do hypnosis over the phone or Skype, RUN! To do hypnosis correctly, one has to be in the same room with the hypnotist. There is certain testing I do with my clients to see how deeply in trance they are. You can’t do the proper testing over the phone! Also, one has to be present during emotional moments in a session.

Hypnosis is hard work for the client at times. Emotions can run high as the client sees the truth behind the trauma. While working through the trauma is hard work, the rewards are abundant!

I receive referrals from mental health care providers as well as primary care physicians. I have worked in the health care field as a nurse for many years. My Ph.D. in Natural Health is also a benefit for my clients.

Living in Harmony with Gaia by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Before the invention of electricity, the human population lived in harmony with the earth. Always connecting with her daily and seasonal cycles for our own natural cycle of life.

Grounding

The term ‘grounding or earthing’ is often used in conversations to describe being in connection with the vibration of the planet. Walking barefoot on the ground or sitting on the ground connects us to Mother Earth. The most straightforward way to ground one’s self is to simply make contact with the ground on either the dirt or concrete, which is also conductive. You don’t necessarily have to be barefoot, but you do need to have on shoes with leather soles for the earth’s vibration to penetrate into your feet.

Swimming in a large body of water is another way to consume mass amounts of positive earth energy. This is why doctors in past centuries recommended to patients who were in need of healing from serious health conditions go to the sea or ocean. Sitting on the beach near a large body of water exposes the body to the ions needed for healing.

There is no negative consequence to grounding or earthing.  Being in communion with the earth provides the opportunity to benefit one’s overall health and well-being.

Being in balance with the energy of All-There-Is brings many health benefits such as less anxiety, better sleep, reduced pain, and overall improved health. Walking in nature helps to expand the lungs with fresh air as we breathe in deeply during our hike. Circulation of the blood brings in more oxygen which in turn helps to clear the cobwebs from the mind.

Disconnection from Earth

Research shows everything alive responds to the subtlest changes in the magnetic and electromagnetic fields surrounding it. It appears we are creating an environment that is out of tune with nature itself. Technology has provided conveniences, but in doing so has created interference with the natural vibrational frequencies caused by the super accelerator inventions of modern day life.

There has been an increase in the number of people suffering from autoimmune diseases and other chronic conditions. Losing touch with the earth and no longer being nourished by our land has contributed to an increase of:

  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Lupus
  • Inflammatory bowel disorders
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Chronic headache
  • Irritability

The truth is, we have become disconnected from our source of life. We’re ungrounded and we are literally no longer in touch with the Earth. Is this disconnection a major contributing factor in the increase of illnesses noted above?

Benefits of Earthing

Benefits of being one with the earth include:

  • Inflammation has been linked to nearly every degenerative disease recorded — cardiovascular disease, diabetes, arthritis, glaucoma, autoimmune disorders, cancer and many more. Grounding reduces chronic inflammation and related chronic pain
  • Earthing neutralizes the free radicals in our bodies, significantly reducing oxidative stress and readily helps us to recover from injuries, trauma and exhaustion
  • Earthing is recommended for anyone who has an auto-immune condition
  • Grounding affects your DNA immediately
  • When you ground to the electrons enriched in the earth, there is an improved balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
  • Enhances circulation, which leads to increased energy
  • Earth is the natural antidote for electron deficiency and achieving a healthy balance in the body
  • Improved sleep
  • Reduces hormonal and menstrual symptoms

Go barefoot for a half-hour or so outside and see what a difference that makes on your pain or stress level. Sit, stand, or walk on soil, grass, sand, or concrete. These are all conductive surfaces from which your body can draw the Earth’s energy. Wood, asphalt, and vinyl are not conductive. Ditch the shoes made with plastic or rubber as much as possible. When you take these steps, you may discover how much better you feel. You may notice the reduction in pain, anxiety and that you are sleeping better.

After a time, the communion between your body, mind, and emotions with the earth will bring a shift in your inner and outer worlds. You will begin to feel aligned and balanced with your body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Being balanced within and outward brings a sense of wholeness and peace to oneself.

Why is our lifespan so short? by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

Before Noah’s flood, life was so different than it is now.

Genesis 1:20 makes this clear when it states that the birds will fly above the earth and over the face of the firmament. Therefore, at the original Creation, a water canopy in the stratosphere, above the sky (the firmament) was in place. After Noah’s Flood this water canopy in the stratosphere was removed, and the water became part of the waters from the Flood of Noah, this occurred approximately 4,400 years ago. The water canopy in the stratosphere is therefore no longer present.

Why is this important? It’s important for us to understand the changes in the earth’s atmosphere before the flood and after the flood. Because, as you see, these changes affected life on earth in a way that has profoundly changed the history of the planet including how life on earth evolves and survives.

The Greenhouse Effect

The water layer in the stratosphere was very dissimilar in comparison to what it is today. The temperature was probably much warmer also it had no variation of temperature over the entire planet. It created a “green house” over the entire earth. Because of the greenhouse effect from the vapor canopy in the stratosphere being in place, earth was a tropical paradise.

Perhaps, this explains why the discovery of Mammoths preserved in the permafrost in Siberia had tropical vegetation in their stomachs.  Earth was, if you will, a greenhouse, a tropical paradise beyond anything we could ever imagine.

Before the flood there would have been a richer concentration of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the stratosphere. The water canopy in the stratosphere would have drastically increased the pressure of gases on Gaia, causing a 50% higher concentrations of oxygen and carbon dioxide.  This evidence is supported by experiments preformed on fossilize tree sap known as amber.

The Greenhouse Effect on Humans

Because of the higher oxygen levels in the stratosphere, there would be higher blood oxygen levels in life on earth. The higher blood oxygen levels at that time would have contributed to extreme longevity. There would be resistance to bacterial and viral diseases. One would have greater metabolic efficiency, which would consequently greatly enhance physical ability.

Before the flood the average lifespan was 912 years. Today the average lifespan is between 71 years and 83 years of age. This is a large contrast in life expectancy on the planet before the flood and also including afterwards. We are dying as infants in comparison to our predecessors.

As our atmosphere changed, the face of the earth began to change.   With the formation of the oceans plus the seas, carbon dioxide dissolved to form soluble carbonate compounds and when this happened the amount in the atmosphere was decreased. Carbon dioxide was also absorbed from the oceans together with the seas into photosynthetic algae and plants.

What we have to remember is that earth’s atmosphere has gone through a number of changes with temperature along with composition in the last 4.5 billion years. About 3 or 4 billion years ago, a bacteria-like life form discovered photosynthesis and began to give off oxygen as a poisonous waste. Everything living at that time was poisoned causing death all over the planet. This photosynthetic prokaryotic organism that emitted O2 as a waste was a precursor to what we now call blue-green alga. After more than a billion years of these bacteria-like things making oxygen, a life form evolved that was able to breath it. Soon after this evolution, mankind arrived.

Our connection to Earth

Mankind has lost touch with our Mother-Who-Nurishes-Us. We no longer hear her song as she quietly hums to us. Humans no longer feel her heartbeat because we have lost touch with her energy. Lost is the connection of oneness you and I once had with Mother Earth. As one has isolated themselves inside concrete buildings, lost altogether is the attachment to Mother’s healing energy.

This conversation will continue in another installment. We will learn more how our health is affected by Earth’s song and vibrational energy.

The Castration of the Male Figure by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

For several decades society has portrayed the male as being impotent and weak. Television portrays the male as being stupid and making poor decisions. I find this distressing.

The Male Definition

: an individual of the sex that is typically capable of producing small, usually motile gametes (such as sperm or spermatozoa) which fertilize the eggs of a female

: having a quality (such as vigor or boldness) sometimes associated with the male sex

I especially like the second definition as having vigor or boldness. In this topic, I am speaking from the natural health aspect of maleness. What happens when society demeans men? How does this affect the health of the man? What effect does this have on the health of relationships? How does this affect our society?

In the traditional role, the man is the provider for the family by earning the money to meet the financial needs of the family. He is expected to provide information and guidance on various topics. Within this role, there is an implication of power and being dominate over the female and children making the man to be a tyrant.

When did strength become a bad quality? I’m not talking about the misuse of strength, but strength as a quality one looks for in a man to protect his family.

In nature, the strong male gets the female. This strength is what attracts the female when she is looking for a mate. Survival of the species. It holds true in humans as well, even though society tries to play the strength card down.

Men were taught not to show emotions. To be a man, one had to be tough and stoic. Crying was a sign of weakness in a man. Father’s were often not very involved with the children, or at least not in the television sitcoms.

What changed?

Feminism roared into the 1970s changing the world as a whole. Instead of balancing the role of females into daily life, feminism went too far. We castrated men during the upheaval. Women became radical and at times rabid. Feminism went too far!

I feel that the radical changes undermined the family unit and men’s role in the community. Hopefully this century will continue to balance the roles of men and women.

In this century, there seems to be a partnership between the sexes. Men are more involved with the family. They are taking a more active role in child rearing. I’m seeing more men step-up to the plate, so to speak, to take on the leadership in the family. Leadership is not being dominate, but is considering what is best for the family and taking in the advice of the spouse.

How is the health of society affected?

As the public weakened the role of men, it weakened the family unit. Disrespect of the man’s role contributed to the crumbling seen in the behavior of children in years past. Discipline was seen as child abuse and parents were afraid to set limits on their children. Rioting and destruction of property was seen on television when people did not get their way.

America is seen as a weak nation around the world when children are not disciplined and allowed to do what they pleased. The United States is no longer united as the strength of the man was dissolved. We are a nation of self-absorbed individuals who are narcissistic and immature.

What does the future look like?

While the role of men has changed, the definition of man’s place in society has not changed. There has to be a new definition of the family unit’s role as it is now seen.

We can’t weaken the status of men or women in the functioning of family interactions. Both men and women have their strengths and each should be celebrated.

A man’s responsibility is paramount in maintaining a healthy community. Today’s man has a newfound strength as he is more involved with the family. It’s time for a new definition of what a man is. Celebrate the men in your life. Show them the respect they deserve.

Care of the Soul by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

We care for our physical health, most of us pay attention to our mental health, and all of us care for our emotional wellbeing. Care also includes one’s children, family, so many other things in life such as our home and property.

But, do you care for your soul? How does one care for their soul?

What is the soul?

The soul is the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, that is regarded as immortal.

Also, the soul is the subject of human consciousness and freedom. Soul and body together form one unique human creation. According to the Bible, each human soul is individual and immortal, and created by God. The soul does not die with the body, but is separated at death.

There is a difference between the soul and the spirit. The soul is immortal, but the spirit is not. Your soul is who you really are, beyond the physical encasement of the body. The spirit is a mediator between body and soul. Everyone’s soul has to do with the emotional aspect and with the individual life itself.  While the spirit is the essence or force that allows the body to function.

Our soul is made of an extremely high vibrational energy coming from the spiritual universe. The soul is invisible, it cannot be seen, weighed or measured in any physical sense. The soul is thought to be associated with the heart charka.

Caring for the Soul

Caring for the soul is more intimate, deep and genuine  than care for day to day activities. When your soul is moved, you feel both love and anger. You will have strong desires and at times even stronger fears.

Throughout a lifetime, one may discovery that the needs of the soul can change and that life becomes difficult. What once nourished your soul, now has become a burden that you now feel the need to escape. To nurture your life is to reach out beyond the limits you have imposed on yourself.

In caring for the soul, we have to learn who we are by facing our shadow side and embracing all aspects of who we truly are. You learn to work with what is, rather than what you wish things to be.

To care for the soul means to open-up to our humanness and to show compassion to ourselves. We have to step out of the humdrum task of daily activities and begin to explore the psyche. Exploration of the psyche is both exciting and scary. Moving beyond the mindlessness of everyday life and into the realm of the soul is indeed the first step into fully living life.

Be brave, learn all you can about who you are, for this is part of the lessons we are to learn in this lifetime.  Reach-out, take hold of your humanness, grow past the boundaries you have built around yourself. Set your soul free! In doing so, you have taken the first step towards caring for the soul.

The Fear Factor Coronavirus by Janet Lynas, Ph.D., N.H.D.

I don’t get caught up in the fear factor the news media likes to generate. Being a former Infection Prevention nurse, I always look at Evidence Based Practice reports (EVP). Let’s look at the evidence on the Coronavirus.

Facts Just The Facts

The Coronavirus (CoV) is a large virus family with 7 known types.

As a zoonotic virus, CoV can be transmitted among animals and people.

Coronavirus infections are rampant in the fall or winter seasons.

For now, the only treatment options for CoV patients are supportive care and symptom relief.

The corona virus gets its name from the Latin word corona meaning crown or halo because that’s what it looks like under a microscope. I’m not going into the scientific information on the technical aspects of the virus. If you want to know more about the virus and the RNA component you can look it up. For this article, I  will give you the basic facts to help you put the fear factor aside.

So, the coronavirus is not new!

Symptoms

The most common symptoms are breathing difficulty, cough, fever, and shortness of breath. In severe cases pneumonia, kidney failure, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and worst, death may develop.

The disease is transmitted by droplets such as coughing, sneezing or a person’s sputum while talking. It is also passed along by being in close personal contact. Remember, you most likely would get it by touching a contaminated surface, like shaking hands with someone infected who has coughed into their hands and not washed them.

However, touch is not the way the disease is transmitted. It’s not going to absorb through your skin. Once it’s on your hands, you would have to touch your face with the contaminate for the virus to enter your body, by touching your mouth, eyes or nose.

The KHU1, 229E, OC43, and NL63 are more common than you think. Their effects could range from mild to moderate infections like that of the common cold.

WASH YOUR HANDS!

Flu vs Corona Virus

Remember, in an average year, flu leads to about 20,000 deaths nationwide and many more hospitalizations.

As of Feb. 28, 2020, the flu has much more of an impact on Americans than COVID-19. You can find up-to-date information on COVID-19 at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

COVID-19: Approximately 3,048 deaths reported worldwide; 2 deaths in the U.S., as of March 2, 2020.

Flu: 291,000 to 646,000 deaths worldwide; 12,000 to 61,000 deaths in the U.S. per year.

Both viruses are treatment by support of symptoms. Antibiotics do not work on viruses, only bacterial infections.

Past Fear Spreading

Remember the SARS-causing virus spreading to over 24 countries in Asia, Europe, North and South America. SARS cases have dwindled until there are no longer reported cases from all over the world since 2004. It too came out of China.

Then there was MERS-CoV syndrome coronavirus coming out of the Middle East. First discovered in 2012, this type of coronavirus infection was recorded to have infected around 2,500 people.

For MERS, there have been no documented human-to-human transmission or community outbreaks apart from close contacts. The main known source for MERS-CoV was dromedary camels.

Let’s not forget the Bird Flu! It goes on and on…

Prevention

Coronaviruses are sensitive to heat. Ultraviolet light, non-ionic detergents, liquid solvents, and oxidizing agents also affect the virions adversely.

Colds, flu, and coronaviruses can be prevented by frequent, thorough hand washing, coughing into the crook of your elbow, staying home when sick and limiting contact with people who are infected.

Conclusion

Don’t fall into the fear that the news media likes to cause. The paper surgical mask will not prevent you from getting a virus because they are not fit properly over your face. There are gaps where viruses can get through. The mask will only help by preventing you from putting you hands around your nose or mouth.

The most effective prevention for any virus is to WASH YOUR HANDS!
